What information do I need to provide?

As practising accountants, we are required by our governing body and by HMRC to carry out customer due diligence measures to check that our customers are who they say they are. This is a requirement of the 2017 Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations that are mandatory for many organisations including banks, solicitors and accountants.

To allow us to comply with Money Laundering Regulations, we would be grateful if all directors would email us:

  •  Proof of Identity: Passport or Driving Licence with photo card (UK residents only). All document information MUST be readable / ID must have an expiry date of NO less than 6 months.
  • Proof of Address: Telephone Bill (excluding mobile Bill); Gas, Water, Electricity Bill; Bank Statement (paper statements preferred or full statement downloads – not screenshots); Mortgage statement; Council tax bill; HM Revenue and Customs Notice. Please note, we are unable to accept a driving licence or tenancy agreements as proof of address. All documents must be dated within the last 3 months / All 4 corners of the document MUST be visible / Show the individuals full name and address.
  • A selfie toghethert with the ID: please take a ‘selfie’ of you with the photo ID in your hands and forward with the above.

After you send us a copy of your documents:

– our MLR officer will check the documents and will make a Credit reference check

– Under regulation 40 we must keep a copy of the documents and information we obtained to fulfil our MLR obligations. Records relating to MLR, the business relationship and occasional transactions must be kept for five years from the end of the client relationship.

– The copies of your documents will be encrypted and stored securely to our Practice Management Software and won’t be visible to our employees.

Any personal data received from the client will only be processed for the purposes of preventing money laundering or terrorist financing unless permitted by an enactment or unless they provide consent. On request, your personal details may be provided to relevant authorities for the specific purpose of anti-money laundering, identity verification, tracing and fraud prevention.
